About OVC

Specialize, and do specialized work to an exceptional standard.

Ottawa Valley Construction (168012 Canada Inc.) is a family-owned, Indigenous-owned general contractor based in Gatineau, Québec, working across the National Capital Region and the Ottawa Valley.

Who we are

168012 Canada Inc. was incorporated federally in 1989 and has held its Régie du bâtiment du Québec general contractor licence since 2005. In the years since, the company has grown from residential and commercial work in the Outaouais into a trusted contractor for federal custodians, municipalities and private owners — with a civil division that now carries bridge and concrete rehabilitation work across the region.

We are a family business. The Meloche family has led the company through three generations, and the values that come with that — keep your word, look after your people, leave every site better than you found it — are still how OVC operates today.

Our philosophy

General contractors are often generalists. We are deliberately not. We build depth in the disciplines our clients find hardest to source — structural intervention in occupied buildings, hazardous-materials abatement, interior building systems for secure facilities, concrete and bridge rehabilitation — and we bring the same discipline to a custom home as to a federal fit-up.

Fewer things, done exceptionally well.

The joy of it

There is nothing like a bridge reopening to traffic.

Or a century home standing straight again. Or a secure facility handed over deficiency-free, on the day we said. Construction is hard, physical, exacting work, and we love it — the planning, the crews, the mornings on site, and the moment a difficult job is simply done. That pleasure is why the work is good.

Leadership

John Meloche

John Meloche

President

John Meloche is President of 168012 Canada Inc. and has been the licence holder behind Ottawa Valley Construction since the company was first licensed by the RBQ in 2005. He has led OVC through its growth from a regional contractor into a security-cleared federal supplier, and he remains directly involved in estimating, site supervision and client relationships.

Under his leadership OVC became a Certified Indigenous Business and began building the quality management system that now underpins its civil work.

Our values

IntegrityWe say what we will do, then document that we did it.
CraftsmanshipThe details that inspectors, owners and occupants notice.
SafetyEvery person goes home in the same condition they arrived.
Community stewardshipWe hire, train and buy locally, and we build capacity in Indigenous and Outaouais communities.

Indigenous ownership and certification

OVC is certified by the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business as a Certified Indigenous Business — an independent verification that the company is at least 51% Indigenous-owned and controlled. For our clients, this certification supports Indigenous participation and procurement objectives on public and private projects.
